Making CSS Changes

If you want to make changes to the look and feel of your CRM, you will need to have a good understanding on CSS and HTML. The default theme comes with a blank css file (custom.css), in which you can add your own CSS styles, to overide the default styles.

This css file is loaded last, so any changes you make it will overide the default styles. This means you can set our own fonts, colours etc.

This css file is located in the folder path yourdomain/public_html/public/css/custom.css. Please note that this path will differ, depending on your web hosting setup.

How to change images used in the theme

The instructions below are for changing the default images that are used in the theme, such as the image displayed on the login page, error message images etc.

You will need to login to your web hosting control panels File Manager (you can also use an FTP client if you prefer)

The default images are found in the folder yourdomain/public_html/public/images. Please note that this path will differ, depending on your web hosting setup.

You simply upload your images, which must be the same file name and file type.

Example: If you want to replace the 404 image, you must upload your own image named 404.png

Introduction

Installing updates is easy. below are instructions on how to go about it.

The first thing to do is to check if there are any new updates, You do this via the settings section of your CRM, as shown in the image below.

If there are any new updates, you click download and save the zip file on your desktop.

Updating Using FTP

Once you have downloaded the zip file onto your desk, you must right click it and select (unzip).

You will now have an unzipped folder of the update on your desktop.

Next, you will need to open your FTP application. If you do not have an FTP application on your computer, you can download a free one here. An FTP client allows you to upload files directly onto your web hosting server.

Please Note: If you do not want to use an FTP application, you can also use your web hosting control panel’s File Manager. The idea is the same (it is explained at the end of this topic)

As shown in the image above, you will want to upload the CONTENTS of the unzipped folder, directly into your CRM’s main directory. This is usually the public_html folder.

This is all you will need to do. When you next log in your CRM, it will have been updated.

Updating Using File Manager

You can also install the updates using your web hosting control panel (File Manager). Log in to your web hosting control panel and go to the File Manager section.

  1. Upload the updates zip file (example UPDATE-V1-01.zip) directly into your CRM’s main directory, as shown below. (this usually into public_html directly. it will have files and folders as shown below)

  1. Unzip the updates folder

  1. Open the unzipped folder and select all the contents. See the example shown below. In the example below, we are inside the unzipped folder and we have selected all the contents.

  1. Select the option to move the contents.
  2. You will be asked where you want to move the files to.
  3. You must select to move them into the main directory of your CRM (usually public_html)
  4. By moving the files, you are basically overwriting the files that currently exist, with the updated ones

This is all you will need to do. When you next log in your CRM, it will have been updated.

Introduction

Grow CRM can be translated into any language. We have made the whole process very easy. We are currently working on shipping the product with as many languages as we can. This is still a work in progress.

If your language is not available by default, you can still easily translate the application into your language.

There are 2 ways to translate Grow CRM

  1. Manual Translation (instructions for this are what are shown on this page)
  2. Using our online Translation Manager (please contact us for access support@growcrm.io)

Manual Translation

The process is very easy, as all the language is contained in 1 single language file. You do not need to be know anything about code to do create your own translation.

The steps below will show you how to do the following

  1. Find the default English language files
  2. Create a copy of the English language file into your own language
  3. Translate you new language file into your desired language

Locating the default English language file

The instructions below are based on using your web hosting control panels File Manager. You can, however, use an FTP application to do the same thing.

The first thing is to locate the default English language file.

  1. Log into your web hosting control panel and open the File manager. Navigate to a folder similar to the one shown below. Please note, the file paths will differ a little with your own web hosting.
  2. You will see a folder name english.
  3. Right-click and select Copy

  1. Type a new name for your language file. The example above is french. All letters must be small letters (no capital letters)
  2. Click on Copy

Editing your new language file

Now that you have duplicated the default english file into your own language. You can now edit/translate the file.

  1. Right-click your new language folder
  2. Click Open

You will now see 2 files inside that folder.

  1. Right-click the file name lang.php
  2. Select Edit

Editing

You will now be able to make changes to the lang.php file. You will translate all the English content into your language.

IMPORTANT NOTE

  1. Only edit/translate the words that are between double quotation marks translate me
  2. Do not delete the semi-colon that  is at the end of each line. “translate me”;
  3. Do not use double quotation marks in your language “This is wrong do not do it”;
  4. Do not make changes to anything else.

After you have finished translating your new language file, you will be able to set as a default language from inside the main settings section of your CRM dashboard.
